【Character】 This product raw powder is yellowish brown, not soluble in water, but it is easily soluble in Methanol, Ethanol, and chloroform and other organic solvent. Its melting point is 267~269℃.

【Pharmacological action】This product is monovalent ion carrier type broad-spectrum coccidiostat. It has good killing effect to various chicken and turkey coccidiosis. Its action peak is on the first two days of coccidium life circle, and has inhibiting effect to sporozoite and first generation agamont, and it will play best function when feeded on the second day of coccidiosis. And it can interfere normal interchange of K+ and Na+ in the cell, and makes large quantity of Na+ and water into cell, which causes cell swelling to death. Besides, Monensin has strong antibacterial action towards some gram-positive bacterium such as staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus, clostridium perfringens, and it can promote animal growth, put on weight, and improve feed return.
